Report: Baldwin says 30 Rock Ending in 2012

Alec Baldwin, the star of NBC’s hit show 30 Rock, was honored Tuesday night at the National Dance Institute’s annual fundraising gala, and he told the folks over at New York Magazine some distressing news for fans of the show.

The New York Magazine reported on its website that Baldwin said 2012 will be the final year of the show, especially with his contract up next year.

“Next year is our last year of the show,” he told the magazine.

Speaking of himself, and co-star Tina Fey, Baldwin said both their contracts are up next year, and that Fey has a long career ahead of her in “directing films and writing,” he told the magazine. Baldwin also predicted Fey will be the next Elaine May.

Season 1 of 30 Rock premiered in 2006, and has been one of the most popular comedy’s on television since.

The show is currently in its fifth season.
