The New York Knicks finally got their man.
After months of trade rumors, the Denver Nuggets and Knicks finally agreed on trade for the all-star forward.
The Denver Post first reported that Carmelo Anthony was traded to the Knicks in a blockbuster deal that will bring the Brooklyn-born star back home.If the reports are correct the Knicks would get Anthony, Chauncey Billups, Shelden Williams, Anthony Carter and Renaldo Balkman. The Nuggets would receive in return Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, Wilson Chandler, Timofey Mozgov, the Knicks’ 2014 first-round draft pick, the Warriors’ 2012 second-round pick, the Warriors’ 2013 second-round pick and $3 million in cash.
Anthony is also expected to sign a three-year, $65 million extension as part of the deal.
Talks heated up over the course of the weekend between the Nuggets, New Jersey Nets and Knicks. Both the Nets and Knicks had deals in place to acquire Anthony, but it was widely reported that Anthony’s preferred destination was the Knicks.
Anthony will join Amare Stoudemire, giving the Knicks two superstars in their starting lineup.
Its not apparent how the Knicks will fill out the center position with Mozgov gone. Ronny Turiaf has started throughout the season but he’s prone to injuries, so the Knicks might look to pick up another big man.
Multiple reports also surfaced that if the Knicks made a deal with the Nuggets, that the Nets will try to obtain two out of the four players the Knicks traded to Denver.
Anthony will make his Garden debut with the Knicks Wednesday night against the Milwaukee Bucks.
