It is a member of the weasel family and can be found in savannahs and open country in sub-Saharan Africa. The zorilla has a lifespan of up to 13 years and lives a solitary lifestyle, only coming into contact with others to mate.
The zorilla animal also goes by the name “striped polecat” and closely resembles the North American skunk. The zorilla has thick fur with black and white stripes and a long bushy tail. They hide in rocky crevices and only come out at night to feed.
Although the little animal seems to be no threat, It’s avoided by most other animals due to its intense defense mechanism. The animal is able to secret a pungent fluid that can be ejected as a defense against its predators through its anal glands, just like a skunk.
