Isabelle Caro, 27, had her naked form captured by controversial photographer Oliviero Toscani for Flash & Partners' Italian clothing company's label Nolita. They have said they are running a 'campaign' to raise the issue of the fashion industry's responsibility for anorexia. It has received the backing of Italy's health minister. Caro has been the face of anorexia ads since 2007, trying to raise awareness about the disease through her own experience.

Caro, a French model and actress, was 28 years old when she died in Tokyo.
Caro weighed 68 pounds at the time of her death and had suffered from anorexia since she was 13 years old.
Caro posed for a billboard ad in 2007 naked at 59 pounds to raise awareness for her disease.
Caro said at the time, “I said if I can put my years of suffering to good use then it will not have been pointless. I know it’s a shocking photo, and I want it to shock. It’s really a warning that it is a serious illness.”

Caro’s family just announced her death, due to complications from anorexia, to the public on Wednesday.
