There are not a lot of firsts that the Dave Matthews Band can claim anymore. Since its inception in the early 1990s, the band has become an annual touring machine, playing in all corners of the world. As the DMB prepares to take 2011 off from touring, they are hitting every venue possible, including Nassau Coliseum. Matthews has never before taken the stage in Uniondale, and despite a huge fan base among the suburban streets of Long Island has only played here a few times. In 2009, DMB returned to Jones Beach for the first time in 12 years. While they chose Citifield for their summer stop instead of coming back to Wantagh, the stop at the Coliseum should be an interesting choice for the band. They play two dates at Madison Square Garden one week after. It remains to be seen if this is one show made to pad the profits, or if DMB will do the Island justice. —Butcher Jones

I Wish The Acoustic Guitar Didn’t Exist

by Brad Pareso on October 5, 2009
Why is the guitar considered such a cool instrument? It's a hollowed-out piece of wood with some strings tied to it. By itself, it's stupid. The guitar only becomes cool when you shove it full of wiring and jack it up on electricity. Then, the guitar is [...]
