by Missy Yates on October 24, 2010
Jane Goodall returns to the Gombe Forest on 60 Minutes.

Jane Goodall returns to the Gombe Forest on 60 Minutes.

Jane Goodall is in the spotlight tonight on 60 Minutes.

Jane Goodall, 76, returned to the Tanzanian  forest where she worked with chimps for decades, beginning nearly 50 years ago. Then a young British girl with no scientific training, JANE Goodall traveled to the Gombe Forest to study chimpanzees. She formed an incredible bond with them and has made it her life’s mission to study and care for the animals.

National Geographic made Jane Goodall an icon, showing her discovery that chimps could use tools and communicate with humans.

Reporter Lara Logan joined Jane Goodall in the African forest for four days to see what her life is like. This is Jane Goodall’s first time on 60 Minutes.
