The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Long Island and other parts of the Northeast starting on Thursday, in anticipation of a big storm.
An area of low pressure is developing along the coast of North Carolina and is expected to strengthen as it moves northeast. Meteorologists said that rain and wind, possibly heavy at times, are expected late Thursday into Thursday night. One to two inches of rain is possible, which may result in flooding.
The rain is predicted to clear up by Friday morning, but 25 to 45 mph winds are likely for Friday afternoon and evening.
