An auto body shop owner is denying accusations of insurance fraud after authorities raided his West Babylon business last week.
James F. Verdi pleaded not guilty to insurance fraud at Suffolk County court Saturday.
Prosecutors said the 56-year-old owner of Route 27 Collision on Sunrise Highway made a fraudulent claim to Geico Insurance Company in excess of $3,000.
The probe included investigators from the district attorney’s office, the New York State Insurance Department Frauds Bureau and the National Insurance Crimes Bureau, with assistance from Geico.
Verdi was previously affiliated with Ace Collision, Inc., in Patchogue, which generated more than 50 consumer complaints to the New York State Insurance Frauds Bureau since 2005, prosecutors said.
