Police, Suspect Quarantined After Bellmore Post Office Cyanide Scare

by Kaitlyn Piccoli on October 1, 2010

Nassau County police, U.S. Marshals and a suspected fugitive were quarantined outside of the Bellmore Post Office Friday while officials investigate whether the suspect was in possession of cyanide.

The area surrounding the post office was blocked off at approximately 10 a.m. Friday after a container with a notation indicating it was sodium cyanide was found inside a woman’s car.

Federal Marshals arrested the unidentified woman, who is in her 40s. She was wanted on out-of-state arrest warrants for identity theft and other charges, officials said.

Police spokesman Lt. Kevin Smith said testing on the substance was under way. The amount recovered was not clear.

Smith said there have been no reports of ill effects.

Wedding & Event FAQ
Q- Does the flower girl have to wear white or ivory to match the bride?

A-Your flower girl can wear any colored dress, which of course coordinates with the rest of your wedding party. If you choose for her to wear white or ivory, you can accent the dress with the bridal party color sash or appliqué. She can also wear the color of the bridal party and to differentiate her, you can add a white or ivory sash. Choose something that you feel will coordinate best with the rest of your bridal party.
