Letters to the Press: For the Week of Sept. 30 – Oct. 6

TESLA DOESN’T STAND ALONE
[Web comments on “Tesla’s Last Stand,” Sep. 16]

It’s Tesla’s last stand, but this time he’s not alone… I personally will do whatever I can to save and restore this extremely important piece of history. “Let the future tell the truth, and evaluate each one according to his work and accomplishments. The present is theirs; the future, for which I have really worked, is mine.” – Nikola Tesla. —Klaus Faber Campagnoli

As an electrical engineer, I can fully appreciate the genius of Tesla. Thank you for this article and, if possible, keep me informed how I may support the effort to save his laboratory from the bulldozers. —Larry Marshall

What a shame! Such a brillant man to be tossed away like trash. I would like to see this spot made into a museum to honor his accomplishments and him. —Pamela Suiter

This place should be an historic land mark. It should be preserved! Forget sticking cheap budget housing on this land. This place should be refurbished and brought back to glory. That tunnel should be dug out and preserved. Even if you were to put housing on land like this, it would take millions of dollars and multiple years to undo the ecological damage, for that kind of price tag and time line, why not just make it into a museum? They said they won’t donate it to a non-profit organization, but if someone with some money who gave a crap about the history of science bought this land and turned it into a museum it would be quite the attraction. Not to mention possibly being able to finish Tesla’s work, which itself would be priceless. Breaks my heart.—85DLOFAN

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST
[Web comments on “Hire Standards,” Sep. 23]

Beautiful women in the workforce shouldn’t have to put up with this sort of thing, but more importantly than that, their employers should be at their defense immediately, NOT giving comments like “you’re too beautiful and it’s your fault so get over it.” While it may be a difficult situation to be working under for both the men and the women, everyone needs to respect each other’s space and rights. No amount of discrimination is acceptable, not racial, not sexual. And the lout who is/was her district manager should be tagged with a tattoo on his forehead for permanent identification as an idiot. —Cranky Paul

Every human being is born with qualities that are both blessing and curse. While I agree that no person should endure such obnoxious behavior from another individual, why is her “suffering” worthy of a lawsuit?

Being sexually harassed is not a more important abuse than any other person endures in the workplace. It is undeserving of any special class of remedies. If you don’t like how you are treated at work, get a different job. Do what everyone else has to do when they are made to suffer needlessly in the workplace.

How is it that lawyers have come to offer absolution to every individual who refuses to accept reality? Honestly, passing this drivel off as news is simply offensive. This is a story only a lawyer could love. —Right to Arm Bears

Wedding & Event FAQ
Q- Does the flower girl have to wear white or ivory to match the bride?

A-Your flower girl can wear any colored dress, which of course coordinates with the rest of your wedding party. If you choose for her to wear white or ivory, you can accent the dress with the bridal party color sash or appliqué. She can also wear the color of the bridal party and to differentiate her, you can add a white or ivory sash. Choose something that you feel will coordinate best with the rest of your bridal party.
