Marlo Thomas, the famous actress, author, activist, and wife of Phil Donahue, has launched a new website, MarloThomas.com. In partnership with AOL, Marlo Thomas has produced a site that purports to offer “an exciting mix of original videos; live, two-way conversations; and other innovative programming.”

Marlo Thomas is known for her television work, including the series That Girl, as well as her book Free to Be…You and Me.

Tim Armstrong, Chairman and CEO of AOL, said in a statement: “Marlo Thomas has helped define an empowered world for women, created ground breaking content for children, and produced best-selling books that improve and inspire people’s lives… Marlo continues to have a big impact on families and health through through her work at St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and we expect her to have just as significant an impact on our audience.”

Thomas was equally optimistic about the site’s possibilities: “I could not be more excited about partnering with AOL,” said the author/actress. “The idea for this site has been humming in my head for years, and to bring it to fruition in partnership with a company that shares my core values of informing, entertaining and connecting the world is an absolute joy. I am delighted to provide a platform in which a community of women can come together and share their stories, learn from one another and have some fun.”

The site went live on Friday, September 24, 2010.
