A car crash claimed the life of an on-duty taxi driver in Bay Shore early Sunday morning.
Suffolk County police said Leon Williams, 55, was driving a cab registered to Tommy’s Taxi when he lost control of the car and ran into utility pole at the intersection of Brentwood Road and New York Avenue at 5:40 a.m.
Williams reportedly had no passengers in his cab when the collision occurred. He was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead. His vehicle was impounded and the investigation is ongoing.
