Two men suspected of committing a series of burglaries over the past three months were arrested while breaking into a Bayport home Friday, Suffolk County police said.
Anthony Gazzola, 21, and 22-year-old Ryan Rossi drove a car to a house on Bayview Avenue and while Rossi waited in the car, Gazzola climbed through the front window of the home and attempted to steal jewelry from inside, police said.
Police apprehended Rossi, of Port Jefferson, at the home. Gazzola, of East Patchogue, was apprehended a short time later.
Fifth Squad detectives said Gazzola and Rossi also burglarized a Blue Point home earlier Friday and committed previous burglaries in Medford, Bayport and East Patchogue.
Gazzola was charged with five counts of burglary. Rossi was charged with three counts of burglary.
The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information to call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
