Man Arrested For Beating Nurse With Chair

A Queens man was arrested for beating a nurse with a broken piece of chair on Friday in North Valley Stream, Nassau County police said.

Donte Oakes, 23, a patient at Franklin General Hospital, broke a wooden chair and assaulted a nurse with one of the legs at 1:30 p.m., police said.

The 53-year-old victim received emergency treatment on location but was later taken to the trauma center at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset for treatment of severe head, face and neck injuries.

Oakes was charged with assualt. He was arraigned Saturday at First District Court in Hempstead.
