Five People Shot Outside Bay Shore Bar

by Kaitlyn Piccoli on September 11, 2010

A shooting in front of a Bay Shore bar left five people injured early Saturday, Suffolk County police said.

A group of men were arguing inside La Hamaca on Bay Shore Road, then left the bar but hung around in the parking lot outside at around 2 a.m.

Witnesses told police two of the men began firing handguns. Several rounds struck five patrons who were standing in front of the bar.

A 19-year-old man was wounded with a gunshot to the thigh, and a 27-year-old man was struck in the calf. They were treated and released from Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip.

Three women, ages 19, 21 and 24, were shot in the legs and treated at Southside Hospital in Bay Shore. They have since been released.

One of the suspects is described as a black male, 5 ft. 10 in. tall, with a muscular build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt at the time of the shooting. The other suspect is described as a black male, 5 ft. 8 in. tall,  wearing a red shirt and baseball cap.

Third Squad detectives ask anyone with information about this incident to call them at 631-854-8353 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential
