3 Firefighters Injured in Brick Wall Collapse

Three firefighters suffered injuries when a brick wall collapsed on them while extingushing a Lindenhurst inferno early Saturday morning.

Suffolk County police said firefighters from the East Farmingdale Fire Department and nine other departments were battling a blaze at Sirob Imports on Gear Avenue when a captain and two other firefighters were injured by a brick wall collapsing on them at 2:21 a.m.

The three were taken to Good Samaritan Medical Center in West Islip to be treated for a back injury and minor injuries, respectively.

The building was severely damaged. Arson Squad detectives are investigating the cause of the fire.

Lindenhurst, West Babylon, North Babylon, Babylon, North Lindenhurst, North Amityville, West Islip, South Farmingdale and Farmingdale fire departments all responded.
