Michael Douglas Will Undergo Chemo for Throat Tumor

by Missy Yates on August 17, 2010

Academy Award-winning actor Michael Douglas has some sad news. He announced Monday that he will undergo eight weeks of radiation and chemotherapy to treat a tumor that doctors discovered in his throat.

Douglas said in a statement that he is “very optimistic” about his prognosis. There was no word on whether the 65 -year-old actor has cancer, but considering he will be going through chemo, it is likely the tumor is malignant.

This news tops off a rough year for Douglas, who dealt with the 5-year prison sentence of his 31-year-old son Cameron in May. Cameron Douglas was convicted of selling methamphetamine. His father shouldered a large portion of the blame for Cameron, who has battled drug addiction since age 13.

Michael Douglas also has two young children with wife Catherine Zeta-Jones. His next film will feature a reprise of his famous role as notorious Wall Street Gordon Gekko in Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, which comes out next month.

A-Your flower girl can wear any colored dress, which of course coordinates with the rest of your wedding party. If you choose for her to wear white or ivory, you can accent the dress with the bridal party color sash or appliqué.
