Police say a Brooklyn man stole an ambulance parked in front of a hospital in Port Jefferson on Friday morning.
The ambulance was taken from John Mather Memorial Hospital at about 11:50 a.m., authorities said. It was recovered 10 minutes laster, about a mile away.
Police arrested 30-year-old Joseph Rey at the scene.
The ambulance belonged to the Terryville Fire Department. According to police, the crew was dropping off a patient inside the hospital when the vehicle was stolen.
