Earthquake Reported: Canada Quake Felt In Toronto, Quebec, and Parts Of U.S.

Social microblogging site Twitter began erupting with reports of an earthquake early this afternoon, as users from many areas reported feeling the effects of tremors, among them, Toronto, Quebec, New York State, Vermont and Detroit. In what has become typical of breaking news in the instant-internet age, official news sources took some time to report the quake, but now, have confirmed the event.

The United States Geological Survey website lists a 5.5 magnitude quake, occurring at Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at 01:41:42 PM at the epicenter, centered around the “ONTARIO-QUEBEC BORDER REGION, CANADA”.

We will update as more information becomes known.
