Extreme Makeover on L.I. Reveals Lucky Family at Yankee Stadium

by Long Island Press on June 21, 2010

It was a hot and humid Father’s Day, and a sold-out crowd for the final game of the Subway Series at Yankee Stadium got an additional treat: when they got to witness one lucky Long Island family sitting in the front row receiving the surprise of a lifetime, thanks to Sal Ferro and Alure Home Improvements, along with Ty Pennington and ABC’s Emmy-winning Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.

Prior to the start of the game,  Pennington, with his blow horn in hand, came running out of the Yankee dugout with members of the design team from the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. The crew gathered at the pitcher’s mound when Pennington announced that the Lutz Family, of East Setauket, were the winners of the Extreme Home Makeover. With shocked faces and smiles from ear to ear, Kathleen, Danny, William and Timmy Lutz were escorted onto the field.

Ferro, President and CEO of Alure Home Improvements, along with a swarm of volunteers in Yankee hard hats came running out of the visiting team dugout to greet the family. Alure has volunteered to lead the way in constructing a new home for the Lutz Family. This is Alure’s eighth project for the show since 2004. The Alure team will work volunteers and members of the community, to complete the project, working 24 hours a day till it is done. More than 1000 volunteers have already signed up.

“We are thrilled that Extreme Makeover: Home Edition has selected a Long Island family for this makeover and we are excited to not only make a difference in the lives of the deserving Lutz family, but to also play a major role in inspiring the Long Island community to come together for a great cause,” says Ferro.” Even before the family was announced, we’ve been overwhelmed with a huge amount of community support from Long Islanders wanting to help without them even having any idea of who they would be helping. Seeing the love and support surrounding this family will make this experience even that much more special.”

With an approval and roar from the New York crowd on hand at the game, the crew, volunteers, and family made their way off the field and set out to begin the makeover.

The build will begin on Tuesday and anyone interested in volunteering can find out more information on Alure’s Fan Page at www.alure.com.

Wedding & Event FAQ
Q- Does the flower girl have to wear white or ivory to match the bride?

A-Your flower girl can wear any colored dress, which of course coordinates with the rest of your wedding party. If you choose for her to wear white or ivory, you can accent the dress with the bridal party color sash or appliqué. She can also wear the color of the bridal party and to differentiate her, you can add a white or ivory sash. Choose something that you feel will coordinate best with the rest of your bridal party.
