A free Alcoholic Beverage Control Law seminar for bar, restaurant and club owners will be held in Nassau County to provide a clear understanding of state laws and regulations regarding alcohol.

How to use a license reader, like this one, will be among the topics taught at the alcohol seminar (NCDA)
The training will be hosted by Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice’s office, the Empire State Restaurant and Tavern Association and the New York State Liquor Authority (SLA).
“By coordinating these limited resources we maximize education and enforcement,” said Rice. “It is essential that they know the law inside and out and understand what their responsibilities are.”
The free seminar will take place on Thursday, June 17, at Nassau Community College in Garden City from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This will be the first time the Alcohol Awareness Training Program will be held in Nassau County.
The one-day training seminar will provide information to licensees, managers and servers to insure compliance with the law. The training will also focus on specific licensee’s responsibilities including restricting sales to minors, identifying an intoxicated patron, as well as providing the benefit of affirmative defense.
After completing the seminar, staff and licensees will receive a certification and a “license reader” courtesy of the district attorney. The devices will be provided by Heinekin and will help detect a fake or altered licenses.
The deadline to register for the training is Tuesday, June 15.
