Kid Drinking Beer at Philadelphia Phillies Baseball Game? Caught on Video

by Natalie Crnosija on June 8, 2010

The star of Sunday’s Phillies-Padres game was not a major league player, but a young child who was filmed drinking from a beer bottle in the stands at Citizens Bank Park.

According to a statement released by Phillies spokeswoman Bonnie Clark, Phillies officials were  not  able to identify the child, the surrounding adults, or the contents of the bottle.  “Obviously, the Phillies, like everyone else, would not want a child to be permitted to consume any alcoholic beverage,” said Clark.  “We suspect that this was a very brief event, probably involving an empty bottle.  We are confident that our employees and our fans would not allow this to happen if they were aware of it.”

The video is part of the official broadcast of the game.  The Huffington Post, New York Post,  Fox29, Deadspin, TheFightins.com and other websites posted the video.

Major League Baseball spokesman Patrick Courtney, who acknowledged that he had seen the video, declined to comment, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Courtney said the league is seeking the removal of the clips from YouTube because of the website’s “unauthorized use of in-game footage.”  This is a frequent practice, said Courtney, as people often post videos from sports broadcasts.

A-Your flower girl can wear any colored dress, which of course coordinates with the rest of your wedding party.
