A man broke into a home in Mastic Beach and attempted to engage in a sex act with a girl, Suffolk County police said.
Darnell McCray, 22, of Mastic Beach, broke into the victim’s home through a rear bedroom window at 5:05 a.m. Saturday morning, police said.
He found a 16-year-old girl in the living room when he attempted to engage in a sex act with her, police said. The other residents were woken up, which caused McCray to flee, police said.
Seventh Squad detectives apprehended McCray and charged him with second-degree burglary and first-degree attempted criminal sexual act.
He will be arraigned Sunday at First District Court in Central Islip.
