Nassau police are investigating a suspicious fire at a high school in Levittown on Sunday afternoon.
The Levittown Fire Department responded to a blaze in the vicinity of the concession stand at the football field of Division Avenue High School, which unoccupied at the time at 2:50 p.m., police said. Fifty firefighters on five trucks extinguished the flames.
The fire, which has been deemed suspicious, caused extensive damage, estimated at more than $100,000, to the bleachers, rubberized track, gym equipment and concession stand, according to Arson/Bomb Squad detectives. There were no reported injuries.
Arson/Bomb Squad and Eighth Squad detectives along with the Nassau County Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating.
