A Central Islip mother was arrested Thursday for endangering the welfare of her children, who were found left alone in a parked car, according to Nassau police.
Police say they were notified by passersby of two children left unattended inside a Dodge Neon, in the parking lot of Macy’s at the Broadway Mall in Hicksville at 9:40 p.m. The children, an 11-year-old boy and 14-month-old girl were reportedly left alone for a minimum of 25 minutes in an outside temperature of 28 degrees.
Tanasia Perry, 28, of Central Islip was arrested when she returned to the vehicle from shopping. The children were placed in the custody of their father.
Perry was charged with two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
