Man Appreciates Rescue from Cesspool Mishap

by Associated Press on December 9, 2009

A New Yorker who spent more than four hours trapped in an 18-foot hole while installing a cesspool is in satisfactory condition and is heading home.

Emergency Personnel carry a man to an awaiting ambulance after he spent over four hours trapped to his chest in sand and soil after falling into a cesspool in East Hills, N.Y. on Long Island's "Gold Coast." Police said that the unidentified man had apparently been inside an 18-foot hole, working to install a new cesspool tank, when the dirt walls surrounding him began to collapse. Nassau University Medical Center spokeswoman Shelly Lotenberg said 37-year-old Mario Flores of Brentwood was expected to be released Wednesday.

Flores was working at a home in East Hills on Tuesday when dirt and sand enveloped him.

Flores issued a statement through the hospital Wednesday. He thanked the dozens of firefighters, police officers and others who helped rescue him.

Wedding & Event FAQ
Q- Does the flower girl have to wear white or ivory to match the bride?

A-Your flower girl can wear any colored dress, which of course coordinates with the rest of your wedding party.
