Man Saved From Cesspool In Deer Park

by Associated Press on November 30, 2009

cesspoolA fire official says a 71-year-old man is lucky to be alive after being rescued from a cesspool on Long Island.

Edward Matos was walking across his son’s front lawn in Deer Park on Sunday when a hole opened beneath his feet. He was submerged up to his chest.

His daughter, Melissa Pantelis, called 911, then sprawled on the grass and grabbed his hand.

Eddie Matos Jr. rushed to help — and fell partway in himself. But he managed to drag his father out, with help from his sister and a passing friend.

Assistant Fire Chief John Giammarino says the family’s quick action averted a tragedy. The fire official says methane gas from the cesspool could have been deadly.

Wedding & Event FAQ
Q- Does the flower girl have to wear white or ivory to match the bride?

A-Your flower girl can wear any colored dress, which of course coordinates with the rest of your wedding party. If you choose for her to wear white or ivory, you can accent the dress with the bridal party color sash or appliqué. She can also wear the color of the bridal party and to differentiate her, you can add a white or ivory sash. Choose something that you feel will coordinate best with the rest of your bridal party.
