Three young men were arrested Sunday after they allegedly robbed a teen at gunpoint in Jericho, Nassau police said.
A 16-year-old boy was walking in front of the Jericho Library on Merry Lane when he was approached by a Nissan Armada, which pulled up behind him at around 12:30 a.m. Three men got out of the car and confronted the teen, and one pointed what looked like a black and silver handgun at him while demanding his property.
The victim handed over a wallet and a cell phone while one of the suspects rifled through the victim’s pockets. After the robbery, the men jumped back into the Armada and fled. The victim then went home and called police.
Once the call was put out about the incident, a Second Precinct officer saw the Armada at 1:20 a.m. Two of the suspects, Shekib Bashir 18, of Manorville and Anthony Laboy 18, of Brentwood, were arrested at the scene.
The third suspect, Kendel Burnette 17, of Brentwood was arrested a short time later in the vicinity of Old Westbury College. The weapon, which was a BB gun, was recovered in the vehicle.
All three men were charged with robbery and will be arraigned in First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead on Monday..
