Suffolk police began investigating a suicide in Deer Park on Sunday night. 
A woman, whose name police did not release, hit her boyfriend in the head with a hammer before she committed suicide at their home, police said.
Police say the woman died in a fire but could not immediately say how the fire started.
Her boyfriend, whose name was also not released, was treated for his injuries at a local hospital.
