Cops: 2 Stole Copper Pipes from East Quogue Home

Two people were arrested for stealing copper piping from an East Quogue home early Friday morning, Southampton Town Police said. arrest1-300x225

Sherman Carter and Sylvia Wilson, both 43 of Bellport, were observed acting in a suspicious manner by detectives and were found to be in possession of copper pipes on Lewis Road at about 12:50 a.m., police said. Upon further investigation, police learned that Carter and Wilson broke into a Old Country Road home by breaking the glass on the rear door and once inside, they removed several sections of copper pipe, police said.

Carter and Wilson were both charged with burglary. They will be arraigned at Southampton Town Justice Court on Friday.
