Airplane Part Falls on Roosevelt Home’s Front Lawn

by Long Island Press on November 6, 2009

plane

An engine tail cone popped off a Delta airlines jet shortly after takeoff from John F. Kennedy Airport. It plummeted thousands of feet before landing harmlessly on someone’s lawn in Roosevelt.

FAA spokeswoman Arlene Salac said Friday the jet doesn’t need the part to fly and passengers weren’t in any danger.

Neither the pilots nor people on the ground noticed the mishap when it happened.

The flight continued to its destination. Salac says Delta personnel reported the part missing after the plane landed in Tokyo.

The 20-pound part measured 4-feet long and 3-feet in diameter. A resident spotted it hours later and called police.

Delta says an investigation is under way.

Wedding & Event FAQ
Q- Does the flower girl have to wear white or ivory to match the bride?

A-Your flower girl can wear any colored dress, which of course coordinates with the rest of your wedding party. If you choose for her to wear white or ivory, you can accent the dress with the bridal party color sash or appliqué. She can also wear the color of the bridal party and to differentiate her, you can add a white or ivory sash. Choose something that you feel will coordinate best with the rest of your bridal party.
