New York State Police arrested a man last night for DWI and Vehicular Manslaughter after his motorcycle left the Wantagh State Parkway and struck a 19-year-old Dix Hills man who was on the bike path next to the road way.

The man died of his injuries.

According to the State Troopers, James J. Ryan of New Hyde Park was northbound on the Wantagh Parkway. Witnesses said Ryan was traveling at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his 2002 Harley Davidson north of the Goose Neck Bridge and drove off the parkway.

The victim was on the bike path next to the Wantagh changing a flat tire when Ryan’s motorcycle hit him.

The victim was airlifted to Nassau University Medical Center (NUMC). Where died from his injuries.

Ryan was taken to NUMC and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit with multiple injuries. Hospital officials say Ryan remained in critical condition today.

“The initial investigation indicates alcohol involvement as one of the potential causes of this accident,” said the State Police in a press release.

Ryan has been charged with DWI, Vehicular Manslaughter 2nd, Reckless Manslaughter 2nd, Reckless Driving and Reckless Endangerment 2nd.

Wedding & Event FAQ
Q- Does the flower girl have to wear white or ivory to match the bride?

A-Your flower girl can wear any colored dress, which of course coordinates with the rest of your wedding party. She can also wear the color of the bridal party and to differentiate her, you can add a white or ivory sash. Choose something that you feel will coordinate best with the rest of your bridal party.
