Rock The Bells 2009

by Long Island Press on July 17, 2009

nasAh, a perfect hip-hop world. Unique regional styles from the far reaches of our fine musical nation would all mingle in harmony. Mainstream artists would share the stage with underground legends. Pioneers would be appreciated by the same audiences that admire the off-beat, experimental styles of up-and-coming and niche artists. This rhythmic utopia would satisfy hip-hop purists, backpackers and old- and new-schoolers alike, reincarnating the spirit of hip-hop’s expressive and inventive “Golden Era.” Well, if only for one day, the Rock The Bells music festival will bring us close to such a world. Hosted by KRS-One, Pete Rock, Supernatural and Murs, and boasting an expansive lineup of the aforementioned, including headliners Nas, The Roots, Busta Rhymes and Common, this all-day event is as complete a representation of creative hip-hop music as one will find.

Nas/Damian Marley/The Roots/Busta Rhymes, Common and many more @ Nikon at Jones Beach Theater, 1000 Ocean Pkwy, Wantagh. Noon. $130.50, $80.50, $70.50, $40.50. 631-888-9000. Presented by Guerilla Union. For more information, visit www.guerillaunion.com/rockthebells.

Wedding & Event FAQ
Q- Does the flower girl have to wear white or ivory to match the bride?

A-Your flower girl can wear any colored dress, which of course coordinates with the rest of your wedding party. If you choose for her to wear white or ivory, you can accent the dress with the bridal party color sash or appliqué. She can also wear the color of the bridal party and to differentiate her, you can add a white or ivory sash. Choose something that you feel will coordinate best with the rest of your bridal party.
