Internet lovers traveling from Long Island MacArthur Airport (LIMA) now have reason to celebrate. Islip Town Supervisor Phil Nolan announced that the Long Island airport will be offering Optimum WiFi to all its travelers.
Optimum WiFi access, which is the nation’s largest and most advanced WiFi network, will be available throughout the terminals and in the airport’s courtesy parking lot. This plan will make MacArthur Airport the first airport in the tri-state area to have completely free internet access. Other airports throughout the nation provide WiFi hotspots or limited connectivity.
“Working with the undisputed industry leader, Long Island MacArthur Airport will become the ‘hot spot’ for free airport WiFi in the Tri-state region,” Supervisor Nolan said, “Our choice of Optimum WiFi reflects our commitment to maintain the highest standards possible for the millions of travelers who choose LIMA for its convenience.”
Islip Town Councilman Christopher Bodkin also noted that, “More than two million visitors fly LIMA each year and more and more of them travel with WiFi enabled laptop computers, iPhones and smart phones such as the iPod touch and Blackberry. In these times, free WiFi is not just a perk – it’s an increasingly important productivity tool improving mobility for business and leisure travelers
If all goes according to plan, internet enthusiast traveling through MacArthur will be enjoying free WiFi by fall just in time for the holiday traveling frenzy.
