Three students were stabbed in a fight involving more than 100 people in front of Brentwood High School on Tuesday morning, school officials said. Three teens were later arrested, Suffolk police said.
After summer school recess, a group of several hundred kids congregated in front of the gate on 4th Avenue at about 11 a.m. at which time school security staff called police, according to the district spokesman. Upon arrival, 3rd Precinct officers found a Jhosef Amarillo, 17, of Brentwood, was stabbed on his side and suffered injuries to his liver, police said.
Freshman student Adrianna Grant, 16, of Bay Shore, was stabbed in her side and Tevin Foster, 15, of Brentwood, was stabbed in the chest. Shaquille Wilson, 16, of Brentwood, was hit in the head with a blunt object and suffered head trauma, according to 3rd Squad detectives.
Amarillo, Wilson, and Foster were transported to Southside Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Grant refused treatment at the scene, the school spokesman said.
Ronald Catalan, 18, of Bay Shore, and two 15-year-olds from Brentwood, whose names police did not release because of their age, were each arrested and charged with two counts of second-degree gang assault and two counts of second-degree assault.
The investigation is continuing, police said. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this incident to contact the 3rd Squad at 631-854-8352.
