That is why Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray has agreed to attend the June 2 meeting of the Long Island

Critics blame Murray for not greenlighting the ambitious development by NY Islanders owner Charles Wang. And, as campaign season nears, it has become apparent that both Republicans and Democrats will use the Lighthouse as an issue to woo voters.

Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi has had nothing but criticism for Murray. Murray has also gotten beaten up in the media and in political circles. She recently won no new friends when she missed a meeting due to a scheduling conflict with Suozzi, Wang and developer Scott Rechler.
