Nassau’s Closing Election Tallies

The final tallies for Nassau’s too-close-to-call Nov. 3 elections are finally in, yet the results are still unofficial until certified by the county Board of Elections. Here are the figures as they stand at the end of the paper ballot count’s final day on Nov. 30:

Republican Legis. Ed Mangano leads incumbent Democratic County Executive Tom Suozzi by 386 votes.

Mangano-Suozzi Race Update

Nassau Republican Legis. Ed Mangano’s lead against Democratic Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi has narrowed to just 122 votes following the end of counting on Nov. 23, according to the latest ballot figures from the county Board of Elections. The latest swing reflects ballots counted from New York State Assembly District 13, known as a Democratic stronghold. That district includes Plainview, Woodbury, Old Bethpage and Glen Cove, where Suozzi served consecutive terms as mayor and his cousin recently won re-election as such. It’s also Suozzi’s hometown.

Mangano Leads Suozzi As Count Continues

Nassau Republican Legis. Ed Mangano has expanded his lead against Democratic incumbent Tom Suozzi in the hair-splitting race for county executive, according to the latest ballot numbers from the county Board of Elections.

Teams of volunteers, Board of Elections workers and attorneys for both candidates have been working tirelessly since the Nov. 3 election to first, recount and verify the more than 245,000 votes cast in the battle through voting machines. On Nov. 16, the crews began counting, verifying and sometimes challenging each of the more than 8,000 absentee and affidavit paper ballots that will ultimately determine who will serve as the next top elected official in Nassau.
