Those who went to high school with DiNapoli knew he had politics in his future. He was 18 when he won a seat on the Mineola School Board, becoming the youngest person in New York to hold public office. For 20 years he served in the state Assembly. He was appointed state comptroller in 2007 with an appetite for exposing fraud, fiscal waste and corruption. Last fall, voters gave him another four years to accomplish even more.
