Nassau police arrested an Amityville man on Thursday for a sexual assault in Hempstead six months ago.
The victim was walking on Fulton Avenue after leaving Nacho Mammas Bar when Tommy Williams Berry, 42, grabbed her by holding her up and walked her into a nearby alleyway in the early morning hours of June 28, according to 3rd Squad detectives.
While in the alley, Berry struck the victim in the face causing a fracture to her left cheekbone and then sexually assaulted her, police said. Berry then left the ally and climbed over a fence onto Meadowbrook Road.
The victim was helped by a passerby and taken to Nassau University Medical Center for treatment.
Berry charged with assault and criminal sexual act. He will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Friday.
