Nassau police are investigating a Bellmore blaze that destroyed a local restaurant and took four hours to contain early Monday morning.
First Precinct officers arrived at the Bar B Que Roadhouse on Bellmore Avenue to find a fully involved blaze at 1 a.m. The Bellmore Fire Department responded and assistance from five other neighboring departments was requested. Around 100 firefighters fought the fire, which destroyed the entire second floor of the buidling as well as the restaurant on the ground floor. No injuries were reported.
Nassau County Fire Marshals and Arson Bomb Squad detectives are investigating the fire as an arson. Detectives request anyone with information about this crime to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
