It’s no secret that economic times are tough, making it harder and harder to splurge on that summer vacation. Sometimes the most expensive part of a vacation is the plane ticket (or even the car ride with gas prices they way they are).
Luckily for us, there really is “no place like home.” Here on Long Island you can tour wineries, visit beachfront resorts, play in amusement parks—and do it all without driving past the Queens border.
Since the summer is winding down, here are a few ways to enjoy what’s left of it, even if you can’t take time off from work or afford to travel.
