At 9 a.m. today, a single-engine plane crashed in East Farmingdale, killing one person and seriously injuring three more.
The crash took place near Republic Airport: The pilot of the Marchetti four-seater was practicing landing when he crashed, according a spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
“There was no indication from the pilot that there was any problem,” said the FAA spokesman. “No mayday or distress message.”
Now, the four people involved inb the crash have been identified.
Passenger Ed Cerverizzo, 75, of Garden City, was pronounced dead at a hospital.
The pilot, Gus Halouvas, 55, of North Bellmore, was hospitalized with spinal injuries.
Passenger William Mancusi, 83, of Brooklyn, was treated for facial lacerations.
Passenger Charles Bianculli, 61, of Lindenhurst, was taken to a hospital and listed in critical condition.
