AOL announced Tuesday that it acquired the popular technology blog TechCrunch, in the continuing effort to reinvent itself.
The acquisition announcement occurred at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference in San Francisco. AOL CEO Tim Armstrong and TechCrunch Founder Michael Arrington joined one another onstage to make the big announcement.
Rumors of the merge spread on Monday, as GigaOm and The Wall Street Journal both reported that the companies were in negotiations of the deal.
