Victoria Beckham showed her Spring 2011 Collection at New York Fashion Week on Sunday, and appeared on The View Friday to talk about it. Surprisingly—not to mention ironically—Beckham said her collection celebrates “curvy” women.

Said Posh: ‘”I just want to celebrate a woman’s curves. Although, you’re right, I don’t have that many myself.” No duh. Beckham’s size-zero frame has been in the spotlight (for better or worse) for years.
“I want to celebrate a woman’s curves,” she said. “I love a woman’s body and I want to make women look and feel fantastic.”
While it’s great that Beckham chooses to create clothing for body types other than her own, the term “curvy” is overused these days and tends to be a slippery slope, as Hollywood considers “curvy” to be anything more than rail thin (i.e. Scarlett Johansson or Christina Hendricks).
Let’s hope Beckham’s intentions are earnest and she continues to celebrate diverse body sizes in the future, and isn’t just playing into the trend of “plus-size” actresses and models.
As far as the collection goes, we wish her clothes were as exciting as her comments.
