A couple is facing allegations that they assaulted Nassau County police officers after the man and woman were kicked out of a bar in Bethpage over the weekend.
Anthony Pizaro and his girlfriend, Michelle Chalen, were kicked out of The Fife and Drum bar on North Wantagh Avenue when a scuffle broke out between them and officers who responded to the scene shortly after 3 a.m. Saturday, police said.
One officer sprained his wrist while handcuffing Pizaro and another officer injured his knee while assisting, police said. Chalen kicked and struggled with officers while they arrested her for interfering with officers while they took her boyfriend into custody, police added.
The officers were taken to area hospital for treatment.
Pizaro, 23, of East Meadow and Chalen, 21, of Bethpage, were charged with resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration. Pizaro was additionally charge with assault.
Bail for Pizaro was set at $1,000 cash or $2,000 bond. Chalen’s bail was set at $500. They are both due back in court Wednesday.
