Cops: Hempstead Man Ran Over Ex-girlfriend

A Hempstead man has been accused of running over his teenage ex-girlfriend when he spotted her with another man on Christmas Eve, Nassau County police said.

Oscar A. Santos, 33, was driving westbound on Midland Street in Uniondale when he spotted the 19-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man walking along the roadway shortly after 11 p.m. Monday, police said.

Santos backed up, drove his vehicle at the victims, striking them on the front lawn of a residence, got out of his car and kicked the man in the head, police said.

Santos then drove off the lawn, parked the car on Midland Street and fled the scene, police said.

The victims were taken to area hospitals where the woman is being treated for a broken right ankle and the man is being treated for sprained knees.

Santos was apprehended when he returned to his vehicle.  He was charged with assault and will be arraigned Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
