Teen heart throb Justin Bieber might have been a possible target of a strange, foiled murder-for-hire plot, that reportedly involved kidnapping Bieber at his Madison Square Garden concert in November.
Alleged details of the plot have gone viral on the Internet since the news came out on Wednesday night, with many media outlets claiming two men intended to castrate Bieber, before murdering him.
Dana Martin, 45, who is serving two life sentences in New Mexico for the rape and murder of a 15-year-old girl in Vermont in 2000, reportedly hired two men to murder four people: Justin Bieber and his bodyguard, plus two other people in Vermont, that police have not yet named.
The only part of the crazy story New York State Police have confirmed is that a drawing of Justin Bieber was found in the car of the men whom New Mexico authorities on Nov. 20 had warned them were on their way to Vermont from Albuquerque with the intention of murdering two people in the St. Albans area near the Canadian border.
The day before, however, the two men were held by US Custom agents at the Highgate Port of entry on the Canadian border after one of the men, 41-year-old Mark Staake, was found in violation of felony probation for aggravated burglary with a deadly weapon in New Mexico, according to NYS police.
Staake, who had been recently released from the Southern New Mexico Correctional Facility in Las Cruces, was taken into custody by federal authorities.
The second man, 23-year-old Tanner Ruane, was released, but after being notified of the plot by New Mexico authorities, NYS Troopers located him at the Pilot Gas Station on Route 7 in Rotterdam, charging him with two counts of conspiracy to commit murder. Ruane was also charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon related to the murder plot in Vermont.
Extradition proceedings are underway and Ruane and Staake are being transported to New Mexico.
Troopers recovered tools and documents associated with the conspiracy while executing a search warrant on Ruane’s vehicle. The documents included the identities of the intended victims in Vermont, their family members, and their whereabouts and a hand-written drawing of Justin Bieber.
