A Garden City man is facing federal charges that he mailed alimony checks stained with poop to his ex-wife in Arizona.
Gerald Desiderio was arraigned Thursday at Brooklyn federal court on charges of sending hazardous materials through the US Mail, obstructing the mail and interstate stalking, according to a spokesman for federal prosecutors.
The New York Post reported that the 51-year-old bartender also mailed vulgar notes, “tasteless objects” and a photo of a knife with a serrated blade. His bail was reportedly set at $35,000.
U.S. Postal Inspectors arrested Desiderio at the Elmont restaurant where he works. He will face the charges in Arizona.
No attorney was on file for Desiderio in court records.
