Shirley Woman Stole from Nursing Home, Cops Say

A former employee of a nursing home in Center Moriches has been accused of stealing jewelry from its residents over the summer to support her drug habit.

Suffolk County police arrested Ashley Cancemi on Monday for the alleged thefts at Cedar Lodge Nursing Home on Frowein Road during a week in late July.

The 24-year-old Shirley woman was charged with criminal possession of stolen property, and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Her bail was set at $10,000 bond or $5,000 cash Tuesday. She is due back in court Friday.
