A Freeport man has been arrested for repeatedly stabbing a 57-year-old man and then punching a teenager as he fled over the weekend, Nassau County police said.
David Mckelvey Jr. got into an argument with the victim at a Weberfield Avenue home when the fight escalated at 9:45 p.m. Sunday, police said.
The 24-year-old suspect stabbed the victim in the back and left leg, police said.
Mckelvey ran away, asked a 19-year-old man to use his phone and then struck the teen, police said.
Mckelvey fled to another residence on Gill Avenue, where he was apprehended by Freeport village police. The weapon was recovered at the scene.
The victim was taken to a local hospital where he is listed in serious but stable condition. The teen refused medical attention.
Mckelvey was charged with second-degree attempted murder and two counts of assault. He will be arraigned Monday at First District Court in Hempstead.
